Every time I get closer to God I fail him

Every single time I try to get closer to God, the same day I sin. Every time I pray when I wake up and read scripture I end up sinning that day, but when I don't I usually go longer without temptation. What should I do?
Top Comment: Remember that the stronger we grow in faith is when Satan comes at us the hardest. Keep working, and don't let sin get in the way of your relationship with God. When you do sin, don't back away from God. Instead, pray to him. Ask him for help through the temptation. I have been growing with God the past year, yet I'm still a sinner. I am however in a much better headspace and sin less than I use to because I keep God in my heart. You just have to keep pushing through!
